So, since my last post, I've learned that I'm totally addicted to bold lips. Well...lemme say, I have ALWAYS been addicted to bold lips, I just didn't really love how I was putting together bold lips on myself. LOL

For the past few days I've been dealing with painters and a neurotic cat....talk about SERIOUS insanity...and I needed a huge pick-me-up. The plan was to go with a smokey eye and a bold lip....since I had a rehearsal for a Messiah that I'm doing this Friday. I ended up with some sort of smokey eye...but the bold lip...FIERCENESS. LOL

Since I initially found them, I have a true love for Revlon's Colorburst. I wore Fuschia today with MAC's currant and magenta lip liner. Love, love!! And my mother even said that she was grateful that I didn't do another natural lip. LOL Oh...and I have on MAC's Azalea blush....happy me!!

Dove Body Wash

As a person who suffers from wacky skin allergies (I know...weird for a fragrance junkie.), my life has always been one with Dove soap. My favorite is actually pink dove. Something about the smell reminds me of my childhood babysitter who wrapped me in love...all the time. She was truly my surrogate grandmother.

As a singer...while traveling it can be really rough trying to find what is needed when gone from home for long periods of time. I remember when my mom and I were in Berlin, Germany for an extended period due to work, I became addicted to Dove's Oil Wash and Body Milk. The combo didn't bother my sensitive skin and the mom and I were VERY happy.

In 1998...back to Europe I went for 4 months of singing and back to my addiction of Dove's Oil Wash and Body Milk. To the extent that I shipped boxes of the products home that lasted for months. (Sad, I say.) It would irk my nerves that we didn't really have the products I wanted at home.

I can't remember exactly when Dove started selling their body washes in the states, but at first I wasn't moved. It didn't have the same feeling like the European brands. My friends and I would complain and continue to buy it in bulk and send it home.

About a month ago, I was hanging out with one of my friends who worked in Germany for years and has since moved back home. She was tooting the horn of the Dove's Body Wash saying it reminds her of the European version. I balked...she said..try it. I did...and I'm just addicted like a looney toon! My favorite scent is Plum and Sakura blossom. They even had a trial size of the deodorant attached...oh my. The scent lingers softly all day. Love, love.

If you're looking for a moisturizing wash with a soft scent...try the Dove brand. They even have unscented, plus a plethora of other scents.

Pacifica...my new summer fragrance crack!!

So...it's been a minute. *throwing up my hands* I will say I am doing better in the heart that I have prior. LOL

Anyway...I've known Pacifica for a while. My mom is addicted to the candles. My mom...the one who grips when she is given a candle. My mom...the one who doesn't understand candle obsessions. Yes, said funny mom loves Pacifica candles. She has them in the bathroom and when they die down...she puts the wax on this funny plate and puts it on her radiator and the warmth scents up the hall.

Before the summer heat really started, I was roaming in Sephora and remembered the Pacifica fragrances. I had tested the Tuscan Blood Orange scent and as a citrus junkie...I fell in love. I picked up the fragrance and decided to test it. Love, love.

I've mentioned before how awkward it can be as a singer who is addicted to perfume and how other singers can greatly detest the smell of it. *sigh* Well, I wore my perfume all summer during this summer program that I participated in. I received several comments about the soft citrus scent I wore. No one was offended...and I was quite happy.

The program I was in ended almost 2 weeks ago and I decided to invest in the layerings. I mean...what is a fragrance without layers? I love the feel of the Tuscan Blood Orange body butter and when butter's main scent dies down...it smells like strawberries on me. With the perfume...*singing* heaaaaaaaaaaaven! LOL On this same trip, I purchased the Indian Coconut Nectar. I'm loving it just as much. I just wish that it was a stronger scent on me. Oh well...it works perfectly for the gym. (Yes, I'm that quirky person who is scented for the gym.)

Antywho...I give my Tuscan Blood Orange a 5/5 for people who really like a nice soft citrusy scent.

Umm...so I had planned a comeback and then my computer started showing its age. Last year my refurbished IBM of 3 years died and I had to go back to my old HP...which at this time is 9 years old. (I know gag.) Once I started blogging, blogger would make it freeze and posting...well, it was NOT an option. *le sigh*

Today, I took the time and stopped flaking and bought a new computer....a new HP. (Why change now...HP has been my saving grace for years.) May I just say, I'm here acting out. LOL Hopefully in the next couple of hours I can get everything uploaded and some new posts going on.

BTW...if you are suffering from this heat wave like we are in NY...please drink tons of water and stay cool.

How was your (hopefully short) week? Not really short. I'm in an intensive opera program this summer and well...there hasn't been anytime off mentally in the past 6 weeks. Plus our first performance of Rossini's last opera will be performed tonight. Rehearsals, rehearsals, rehearsals...

Do you prefer sunsets or sunrises? Both. I'm a night owl so some days I see both.

Are there any summer-time movies coming out (or out) that you really want to see? Well, I've seen Transformers 3 and Green Latern. I really want to see Larry Crowne, Bridesmaids (yes, I'm late.) and Bad Teacher.

When the sun is blazing, do you normally wear short, skirts, dresses (or other)? Dresses. I just love being a girly girl. A pretty sandal, cute dress...makes me very happaaaay.

Trying to make a comeback

*waving* So I just looked at my dashboard and realized I haven't blogged in almost a year. September 4, 2010 is a really long time. LOL

What has happened in a year? A lot of good singing, a lot of hard work on the voice, not enough exercising....but still a lot of nail polish and makeup collecting. And soon...a lot of giving away. I mean really, how much makeup and nail polish can a girl have?

Today as a welcome back to me, I thought I would post a few things that are floating my boat now.

1. NYX Lip Smacking Fun Colors and NYX lip pencils. My favorite color...Pumpkin Pie. Neutral color, makes me happy and it is one of the creamiest lipsticks I own.

2. I've always been a fake eyelash wearer...since freshman year in high school...and I'm on my way to my ahem...LOL..20th HS reunion. (I shall say NO more. LOL) I have 3 different kinds that I rotate on the regular....Ardell's Demi 120, Red Cherry #42 and Elite #6. I have others on the rotation, but these are the 3 that are always close at hand and are in BULK. (By the way...if you don't know them...check out Madame Madeline's. They are fabulous...good customer service and delivery is QUICK.)

3. Youtube...is the debbil. LOL I'm always in need of a good idea that will make me stand out in the eye department. My favorite tubers...MakeupbyNaya, MakeupbyTiffanyD, Makeup By Candie and Prettygyrl83.

4. BH Cosmetics 120 Palettes....yes, all 3 editions. LOL You would be surprised..each palette has some colors that are not in another palette. They are great and I love the level of pigmentation. Happy, happy me!!!

5. Sigma makeup brushes... I shan't say more. LOL I love the feel, their ability to do the do well...and that they aren't that expensive.

6. NYX girls nail polish. My favorite color is Fire Amber. It has taken me an awful long time to find a red that I love and I'm not doing the..."Eww, I don't like red nail polish" look.

7. An oldie in the makeup drawer, but a newbie in use...Kat Von D high voltage eye primer. With each usage, I'm happier and happier. Since I have SUPER oily eye lids, I can have an eyeshadow slide about 5 hours into my day. There is NO slide when I wear this stuff. I'm so dern grateful.

8. Decollete by Merle Norman. I remember a dear friend in college wearing it and I had to find out what it was. Crack in a bottle for me. I was in KY recently and I bought a new bottle...oh man...happiness.

9. MAC Lady Gaga Viva Glam 2 lipglass. I own ALL of the Viva Glam products...1. because I have had too many friends who have died from the disease...2. The AIDS cause is as close to my heart as breast cancer. This color works so well with some of my neutral lipsticks. It does just what I want on a smokey eye day. It even makes it fancier that MAC sends out thank you cards when you buy it.

10. Avon's Moisture Effective Eye Makeup Remover lotion. I saw it a review of it by the blogger Beatz. I was like yea right. I tried it...and every time Avon has a sale on it...I pick up about 3 or 4 bottles. It removes my full face of makeup as well as eyelash glue AMAZINGLY well.

And just a random, last week I made my first purchase from Bitch-Slap! Cosmetics. Talk about a big ole surprise when I open up my package this morning and there is a note from them. Even if it is pre-printed, I am grateful for the thank you card. (Yes, thank you card.) Nothing like a special touch to make a customer come back.

Revlon ColorBurst Fuschia

Pink is my favorite color...and sometimes I pick up things, because...well it is pink. Sad state of affairs if you ask my friends. LOL

A few weeks ago I picked up a tube of Revlon's Color Burst...because it was 1. on sale and 2. cause I saw the color fuschia. I know, I know. Well today as I was sitting in the house enjoying a new Korean soap that I'm watching (so addictive I might add) and I decided to test out the color.

The ad says it is rich color that is virtually weightless. It is true and I am so mad. LOL I need to get me a beautiful burgundy or red or something. The lipstick went on smooth and as I sit here now...later, with no makeup on...and just lipstick, I feel rather glamorous. LOL

The lip liner I have on is MAC Currant.

I haven't been here in forever, but my blog is always on my mind.

This has been a much busier summer than I expected. After the major program that I participated in (which I will be doing again next summer.), I went to Edinburgh, Scotland to sing in the International Festival. I've been home for about a week now and I still feel overwhelmingly jetlagged...but I am starting to think it is PMS. LOL

Any way, I was scouring over one of my favorite blogs...Afrobella...and I decided to do my 5 Favorite Beauty Items of Summer of 2010.

Normally when the temperature hits over 80 degrees, I'm beach bound and makeup free. Seriously. LOL This year it wasn't the case and I had to pray that my skin would tolerate the heat and makeup. It did. Hallelu!!

No. 1. T.N. Dickinsons Witch Hazel.
Total Savior!!! Since I have had to be "on" all the time, I am totally grateful for this natural toner to keep my skin from acting like a donkey. LOL

No. 2. Urban Decan All Nighter
New York City is humidity ville. Seriously. Manhattan is an island...and folks will not acknowledge that...for some UNGODLY reason. You can only get in and out of this city by bridge or tunnel...so it really is an island. LOL Anyway...I read early in the summer about the All Nighter spray. Woosah...I'm grateful. Nothing like a humid night and you are not afraid that your face will be melting on your clothes.

No. 3. Revlon Photo Ready Foundation
As a brown girl, in my lifetime it has been extremely difficult finding a perfect foundation that just...WORKS. Last year in the winter one of my friend's suggested that I try Revlon's Color Stay. A dream that I didn't need to pay something exorbitant on a makeup that didn't come off on my clothes. As it got warmer, Color Stay started making me look grey (to quote my mother). LOL I tried the Photo Ready on a whim and she said I had my natural color back. LOL I find it to be just as perfect as Color Stay. Wootie!!

No. 4. Carol's Daughter's Ocean
As an opera singer, the worst thing you can do in a rehearsal is wear perfume. *rolling eyes* You would be AMAZED how many singers can't stand the smell of perfumes, oils...blah, blah, blah. The dramatic outbursts are just OVERWHELMING. LOL Ocean is a light summer fragrance. I remember the first day I wore it...praying that someone wouldn't say a word. Not one utterance about it. So, I continued to wear it. LOL I'm a tad sad because I went into the flagship store when I got back from Scotland and Ocean is all on sale...because THEY'RE DISCONTINUING IT. *wail* Hopefully, Mrs. Lisa Price will give me something else that will work.

No. 5. Dr. Bronner's Citrus Soap
Do I need to toot the horn of this wonderful soap??? I doubt it. I actually have all of the scents in my house. Seriously. There was a sale on the large bottles earlier this summer...for $5.99 and I acted extremely ignorant and bought at least 3 of each. LOL Hey...I said I have a habit. LOL

And an honorable mention....I can remember when I first saw the name Sigma Brushes on Tiffany D's blog. I read the reviews, ooooed and ahhhed...and I said, well one day I will purchase them. I mean, I have enough makeup brushes...why do I need a KIT?? LOL

Ahh, the PEER PRESSURE.... LOL I bought a Pink Complete Kit with Roll the middle of July and just looked at it. (I'm weird like that sometimes.) I took it with me to Scotland and may I just say, these brushes are wonderful. They get the job done and I can even say they are on the same level of my MAC brushes.

I'm out to enjoy the last bit of summer!! Hope you are too!!!

Aren't you an Ogre!

Yesterday after my romp in the gym, I was sitting at my table catching up on Nurse Jackie episodes and decided to change my polish. This was the final decision....Ogre-The-Top Blue!

This color is fabulous!! It is such a phenomenal cream and I didn't even have to do my addictive 3 coats. LOL Also....when I was in the MAC Pro store yesterday, everyone was commenting on how fierce the color is. ;) Go 'head OPI. LOL

It's Been A Looooong Time

It was not my plan to be gone this long...Whew!! I was working a gig where my days were straight GONE. I have never been so exhausted and over worked in my LIIIIIIIIIIIIIFE!! LOL

During it, I couldn't wear any nail polish. They were on me during the first week of rehearsals because as usual, I change my nail polish DAILY. During run through rehearsals, my color extravaganza's had to stop.

Since the last performance was Sunday, yesterday was the first day that I felt like even ENTERTAINING some polish. (Even though, I am surrounded by polish and never stopped shopping for nail polish. LOL)

My color of choice was China Glaze Cowgirl Up. I can't remember which blog I read where they had a pic of this. Maybe it was Laquerized. I don't know....

Wherever it was...I went digging immediately and found it at head2toe. Woot!!

By the way...I'm so glad to be back!!!!

CND Stickey

Someone recommended CND Stickey to me a month ago because I was having SERIOUS base coat issues. I am sorry I can't remember, because this is a HIT.

I have on For Audrey and I have washed dishes for like 3 days...LOL...and not a chip until this evening. I am so EXCITED!!! LOL Between CND and Poshe top coat...I'm in business!!

5. What is your current favorite lip balm? Neosporin's Lip Therapy or Aquafina Lip Balm. Whatever is on hand at the moment, is what I use!

6. Do you have any “spring rituals”? Yes, cleaning up and throwing out or giving away. This year, I am looking forward to getting rid of all of the clothes I haven't used. It is amazing how you buy and buy and then stuff piles up. It is driving me mad. STRAIGHT mad!!!

7. What’s your favorite wild animal? Hmm...toss between a gazelle and a lion. Every time I see a lion I just want to sing that song from the Wiz...Be A Lion. Here are a few of the lyrics....No need to run/No need to hide/You're standing strong and tall/You're the bravest of them all

8. How many cities have you lived in? I will say 4. New York City, Atlanta, Georgia, Lexington, Kentucky and Berlin, Germany. Even though NY is home, my favorite place is really Atlanta!

9. If you have a cat, do you collect cat whiskers that fall out? Yes, I have a cat and I never noticed that her whiskers fell out. LOL But she is black...her fur is black...her whiskers are black...her nose is black...I mean totally black. LOL So, I wouldn't even notice if her whiskers fell out.

10. What’s your least favorite song? Alicia Keys' No one. I HATE that song. When I hear it coming on the radio, I flip immediately. I mean IMMEDIATELY.

Seeing Red!!!

So yesterday, I think I had a little too much fun swatching that I decided to do it again today with some of my reds. I have a SLEW of Zoya's reds and I thought today on this perfectly gloomy day, I would dive in.

Tosca

Tosca...I bought this red because this is the name of one of my favorite operas. LOL The red is more on the pinkish side and it has a hint of gold shimmer. It went on very smooth and in 2 coats. I love it, but not as much as a couple of the other colors. I know when the sun starts shining on the regular and I get a tan, I shall love it more.

Next up...Delilah. It is a nice red jelly with sparkles. I don't even know if my camera caught the full effect. I was a tad disappointed because it took like 4 coats to get the look that I wanted, but once I got the look...I loved it. I think it is my favorite out of this group.

Kamilah, nice frosty and pinky red. LOL I didn't care for it much, but it is really beautiful.

To break up the super shiny thing, I found Posh in the stash. It is a beautiful matte red from the Matte Velvet Collection. It is even prettier when there is a top coat on it.

My second favorite out of the reds is Isla...makes me want to sing La Isla Bonita. LOL It reminds me of the Nubar's Torrid Red that I swatched yesterday. Wow...

Last of today's Seeing Red....Chelsea. I bought it because that is one of my favorite sections of NY. LOL It is a great orange frosty red. This is more of my mom's flavor and I am going to drop it in her purse when I catch up with her. LOL She loves a good red and a good frost. LOL

Happy Monday all!! I hope every one had a great weekend. Mine was busy as usual, but fabbbbu! This morning, my schedule has lightened up a bit and today I did my first swatching mission. Usually when I take pictures of my manicures, they are just that manicures. I thought I would try something new while I was watching the View...and I think I will continue to do a swatching mission...at least once a week.

A few weeks ago, Nubar was having a sale on their polishes and since I didn't own any, I thought I would dive in and grab some...and with my addictive behavior, I picked up 6. LOL (Please excuse my shoddy looking cuticles and non clean up.)

I will say that I love the colors and the ease at which these polishes go on. Most of my swatches I only used 2 coats except the last one...which is one of my most FAVORITESTTTT songs. LOL

So here is my first color that I am soooo looking forward to wearing to the beach. LOL This is Belize Coral. I have a very good friend who is from Belize and I thought that I would get it and show him...then have him rolling that I would even buy something in honor of his homeland. Anyway, the color is a beautiful coral leaning towards pink. It is fabulous. I had to post a shot with a flash and without. It is just so stunning!!!!!!

Next is my second favorite of my purchases. Torrid Red. Talk about AMAZINGLY sexy. It is a frosty burgundy-ish red. It reminds me of my aunt and her love of sexy vampy colors, before vampy colors were in style. I can't wait to wear this out in public. Oh wow...yummy.

Midnight Rendezvouos...what can I say? It reminds me of Wicked one of my all time favorite winter colors. Something about the richness of the color, it makes me feel luscious. (Don't ask...I'm an opera singer and dramatic. LMAO!!)

Dazzling, what can I say? You are going to be a big ole hit when I have to do performances when I am NOT supposed to have on nail polish, but I am such a crack addict that I have to wear polish anyway. LOL A great color with pink, gold and greenish like shimmer. I don't even know if my camera caught the full effect of its Dazzelosityness. LOL (Can you tell I am a Kimora Lee Simmons fan?)

Pasadena Purple

The last two...hmmm...fun and funner? LOL First is Pasadena Purple and then Purple Rain Glitter. I will say that I love the Pasadena more than the Purple Rain. I don't know...I think that the Purple Rain has more of a jelly base...maybe I need to use an opaque base coat and I will have more fun with it. I think that the pink glitter in it is just great. Pasadena is so beautiful with the frost and all swirly. Hmmm...

If you haven't figured out by now because I can't remember if I have mentioned it, but I live in NYC. It is my home town and I love it, but I am a NYer who comes from southern roots, I went to college in the south and I have a small addiction to Wal-Mart...which is NOT in NYC nor is there a store very close. Argh!

The other day I received a 20% coupon for Ulta and decided that since I had to go to New Jersey to redeem it...I would just find myself a Wally World. I did just that and I felt like a kid in a candy store. It was saaaaaaaaaaaaaad. It took the Lord to keep me from buying almost all of the Hard Candy polishes. LOL

I purchased Lava, Break Up and Sweet P. All three are shiny and glittery. Yummo!!

This morning I was checking some emails and decided to start putting this Lava on my left hand. (I have weird painting my nails habits...don't ask.) I was really loving it. I can't even describe how much I was loving it.

So, in my last post, I mentioned how I was going to polish my nails American Apparel's Berry. Hmmm...I don't like it much for my fingernails. I think it would be a bigger hit if it was on my toes.

The color is really beautiful and it goes on very well. I only needed 2 coats and that pleased me a lot, but I wasn't really wowed. *sigh* LOL

This past week, I received my first shipment of Nubar nail polishes. I am SO excited about using them, but until then...I'm found a new Ulta to hit...which I plan to do in the next hour or so. When I get back...polishing nails is my game. LOL

1. How has your week been so far? Busy, great, fun. I went to DC on Tuesday with my mom to see their production of Porgy and Bess. As many times as I have done it, I have never seen it. And the singing was absolutely phenomenal. I'm glad the moms and I can do those types of things where we can pop down, pop back home. Then last night we saw Denzel Washington and Viola Davis in a discussion at the New York Times Talks. Talk about enlightening. 2. What’s your favorite mindless distraction? Watching television. I have too much music to learn to do it regularly...but lately I have been flaking...and just zoning out on the tv. LOLOL

3. What’s on the nails? Just nail magic because I'm about to re-polish. I am going to put on Berry from American Apparel. I'm excited!

4. Have you ever seen a UFO? If I have...I don't know. LOL

5. Do you eat seafood? Yes, yes and more yes. Last night I had a strong desire from shrimp scampi. LOLOL

6. Ever taken a photography class? No, but I have thought about it.

7. What was your least favorite subject in school? Biology. I think it had more to do with the teacher than the class.

8. What was your favorite subject in school? Music, Math and Chemistry

9. Do you wear scarves? Yes and I am a pashmina fool. Love the colors!!

10. Have you ever used LUSH Lemony Flutter? Was it good? No, I can't say that I have. I have issues going into Lush. The odors are a little to overwhelming for me...and this is coming from a perfume junkie.

It has been a little over a week and so much has happened. Ayi, Ayi, Ayi!!! LOL

In a week's time, I have had an audition...got a job for a production at the end of May, twisted my knee aggravated a tendon and been to the ER, threw a baby shower for a friend who is having her first, and I celebrated my birthday! I almost feel like singing, "What a movie?" LOL It feels insane, but life of an artist can be a little off. LOL

Antywho, I haven't had the opportunity to take pictures of my manicures...bad me, but I have been in FULL spring mode! What do you expect from a spring baby??

1. How has your week been so far? Crazy as I have listed above, but I am grateful that I can discuss how my week has been.

2. If you had to only wear one brand of nail polish for the rest of your life, which brand would it be and why? I would have said prior OPI, but since I have been blogging and reading blogs, it would have to be China Glaze. The colors are totally delicious and they last longer than OPI and my other favorite Essie.

3. What are you wearing on your nails? Right now, naked. I was even naked for my birthday. My girlfriends were so stunned. LOL It was my intent to wear CG Awaken...but there was so much too do and so little time.

4. What is your favorite flower? I love peonies and stargazers. I'm so addicted to pink...it is SAD.

5. Do you have any tattoos? No, only because I am too afraid to get one. I have wanted one for a very long time and I thought that this year was the year for my bday...yet again...I'm AFRAAAAAAAAID. LOLOL

6. If you had a chance to go to the moon for free, would you? No thanks. I love the stars and the moon...oh the moon, but the planetarium is enough for me.

7. What decade is your favorite in terms of fashion and the way people/objects looked? I would have to say it is the 50's. The pictures of my grandmother and her sisters, plus my mom and her friends...wow. They were such SUPER girls at that time. The dresses, the hats, the shoes, the hair, the makeup...and red lipstick. I think the women were so beautiful then. Plus, it wasn't a bad thing to be voluptuous. Women looked like women.

8. What word do you loathe? Nasty. LOL Seriously. I don't like the way it sounds when it rolls off of New Yorker's tongues. LOL And I am a native New Yorker. It sounds past disgusting. LOL

9. When is the last time you got a manicure in a shop? I used to go weekly with my mom and then I lost my job almost 2 years ago. Then I went back to a habit that I had in college...polishing my nails every day. Then I found nail polish blogs. It has been down hill ever since. LOL Also...my other gripe is that my manicures didn't last long when I went to the shop. So, you pay $10 and tip and then 1 day later I had a chipped nail. Ack.

10. If you could only use 5 beauty products the rest of your life, what would they be? Wooooah. Okay 5...my plant based soap for my face, witch hazel, nail polish and extras, mascara and lip gloss. Woosaahh...that's hard. LOL

Happy Wednesday...or what is left of Wednesday and St. Patti's Day!

Today, I didn't partake of the drinking or the parade...but the mom and I went shopping. It was actually her trip to find some flats...but I scored some red patent leather Birkenstocks for $30 at Nordstroms and a new super soft terry robe at Sears on sale for $14. (Don't knock Sears...the robe is fabu...cute, and super girly.)

1. How has your week been so far? Okay...tad busy...tad crazy. Last weekend during the rain, my bathroom got attacked...so I have been making sure I have gotten all the plaster and doo cleaned up. Other than that...music, music and more music to be learned.

2. Do you have seasonal allergies? More like year round allergies. I seem to be allergic to all the trees indigenous to the state of New York, dust, flowers, and my beloved cat. Ayi! Oh well...thank God for Zyterc...and my air purifier in the house...and I press ON!!

3. What’s on your nails for St. Patrick’s Day? OPI's Jade is the new black.. It should have been called Jade is the new Sexy.

4. Have you seen the new line of Tokidoki and Tarina Tarantino makeup at Sephora? Yes and I am having one of those eye covered and screaming la, la, la moments!!! LOL I have been on a serious makeup diet for almost a year and I have only caved in to nail polish. My diet may be over...I renewed my MAC PPID card today and my bday is next week. Anything is possible. *sigh*

5. What blow dryer do you use? I don't. I am an African American woman with natural hair and I try not to use any heat on my hair.

6. Are you a fan of corned beef & cabbage? Actually yes, but none for me this year. I gave up red meat for lent.

7. What’s for lunch? I think I had a gatorade. LOL I was shopping...what do you expect????

8. Do you have a favorite hand lotion? My ultimate favorite is Dove Hand Lotion that is sold in Europe. I am not a real fan of American lotion. When I'm out of my European stash, I use California Mango Mend and a squirt of California Mango Hand and Body Lotion.

9. Are you related to anyone famous? LOL I don't think he's famous...maybe he would be considered to the alumni of his alma mater. My cousin wrote the school song and fight song for Morehouse College. J.O.B. Mosley class of '29.

10. What’s your favorite kitchen gadget? So, I'm a foodie who doesn't really have time to be a foodie. HA!! I have 3 favorite gadgets...my citrus press, my Microplane food graters, my kitchen aid shears. The graters are leading the pack. Nothing like shredded garlic in some sauteed veggies. I am so grateful for Rachel Ray's trick.

Women's Day Purple...

So this weekend has been overwhelming.... Women's Day in the Baptist Church is crazy. It is an all day affair and it makes me EEEEXHAUSTED. LOL

Today was no different. Our colors were purple and all week I've been playing with purples...but now I can't find the pictures on my computer. LOL

Above is today's manicure...I used Orly's Charged Up on every nail, but one coat under the nails with China Glaze Cleopatra. Talk about a love, love situation. I'm even wearing it tomorrow...well later tonight, to my friend's play reading at the Papp Public Theater.

Oh, oh...I forgot to say, I have been using Nail Magic as a base coat and as a top coat over my Seche. It has really been making my nails hard and I am very please with the way my nails are growing.

I just have to say this...I have entirely too many different bottles of purple polish. LOL I found this out because my church's women's day is this coming Sunday and there are a couple of events that we are having prior to Sunday. I thought I would be schnazzy and wear purple for the rest of the week for the events. I started digging and I think I have found 20 different purples. Outrageous....STRAIGHT outrageous. LOL

So now that I have vented that, I am going to bed...I'll take pictures tomorrow. LOL

Rolled Up in One

I haven't been here in a minute, but my nail polishing hasn't stopped. Here are a few colors I've worn lately.

I got this on my first trip EVER to Ulta and I am sorry that I ever found Ulta. LOL That place...straight debbil. This is After Party and on my ring finger is Tinsel. This manicure was a big hit at a concert I was singing on. I love the red glitter...and it was perfect on that snowy day.

This is China Glaze Grape Juice. I also got this on my first trip to Ulta. I was avoiding getting the Grape Pop (which I got this past weekend)...LOL I I love the pink glitter in the purple base. Straight sexay.

Hmmm...Essie's Sexy Divide...woah! I can't even say how much I love this color. The purple is so rich and just..yummy. LOL

This is today's manicure. I did a Seche run for my mom yesterday at Sally's and there were BINS of Finger Paint nail polish for $3.49. Hooo.haa. I don't normally like pinkish frosty polish, but I was drawn to the gold glitter at the bottom of the bottle. LOL Last night, I polished 4 fingers on my left hand and I squealed loudly with delight...at the chagrin of my cat. LOL It is beautiful, pinky, glittery and frosty. Oh and the name...Magenta Mood.

No matter how much I gripe about the brushes on the new Sally Hansen's...I am absolutely in LOVE with the colors.

Friday, I was singing on a friend's live recording and another friend who was singing forgot her makeup. We ran down to the local Duane.Reade where she grabbed some eyeshadow and I saw 4 new nail polishes that I've been eyeing. Argh, Grump.Humph. LOL I swear I need NA...Nail polish Anonymous!

So, I decided since I had pretty much been stuck in the house on Saturday, besides the time I shoveled out my car, I would take some time and polish my nails a hot color. The color goes on like the others...fully opaque in 1 coat...but because I'm anal, I have on 3....with Seche as a top coat.

By the way...am I the only person who has issues with Seche Vite top coat when the bottle gets half empty? If you have any tricks on how to make it easier to use, I would greatly appreciate it!

1. How has your week been so far? Comme-ci comme-sa...not great...but surely not bad. I'll be glad when the sun shines on a consistent basis...cause this gloomy rain and snow is for the BIRDS!!!!!

2. Would you rather be stuck with -10 degree weather and snow the rest of your life or sun and 95 degrees? I am a sun baby. I will tolerate 95 degree weather ANY day of the week. Right now I am in absolute AGGGGONY...to quote a friend Help me Bobby! LOL

3. What’s on your nails? When I copied this...I just had on Nail Magic...but I was staring at a bottle of American Apparel's Palm Spring...so I started painting my nails that. I love it. I'm a real peach person...so I'm grateful for the lift

4. How far do you commute to get to work/school? Okay...so I'm a freelance opera singer, but while things have been low I have been teaching 5th and 6th grade chorus. So...the commute is about 40 minutes door to door when traffic is so so.

5. What kind of bag do you carry on a daily basis (purse, large tote, backpack, etc.)? It depends on the day. My favorite bag is a black patent leather pocket book that holds too dern much. Most times that I carry it I have a pain in the bend of my elbow from carrying too much weight. I usually have 2 opera scores, my book with my arias and things I'm in progress of learning, a small makeup bag, 2 ipods (one for recording voice lessons, the other with all my favorite music which keeps my sanity), 2 tubes of lotion, Burt Bee's cuticle cream...and on and on....it is absurd. Oh...and yes, I have all of this around me most of the time.

6. Are you crafty? What kinds of crafts do you do? I'm rather crafty. I used to scrapbook, but I don't have time anymore. I do crochet and other random things.

7. What is the best thing you can cook? Well, I don't do too bad...I think one of my biggest hits with my ex was either my salmon with curry and honey, mashed potatoes and asparagus...or my favorite trash food...bbq hot wings.

8. Are you good at math? Totally. Love it. But they say that most musicians are either good in math or science...or both. Something about correlation. *shrugging*

9. Do you take risks when it comes to your haircut or color? No. Unfortunately it would be totally absurd. That whole opera singer thing...and being in one of the most conservative art forms out there. Pish-Posh!

10. Ever heard of Sugarpill cosmetics? Yes because Temptalia.com reviewed them recently. They have beautiful colors!

Zoya Haul

I swear...I'm so, so sad. LOL Last week Zoya had a sale of sorts. You spend over $10 and you get 2 polishes free. Now...any normal person would buy 4...get 2 free....but not me. I ordered 6. Ack. LOL I got some colors that I have been lemming and one was a surprise to me. LOL

I ordered Yummy, MarryJ, Layla, Star, Paz and Savita. The Savita was a surprise...I have no idea why, but I didn't realize it was a matte. Funny enough this was the color that I was drawn too. So, I opened the box and there it was in all of its purple glory. Wootie Woo!

It is Friday...and i am ecstatic. This has been a really longish week and I just want a day of sleep...and maybe a good movie in the process. Harumph. LOL There is so much to do and not enough hours in the DAY!!

1. How has your week been so far? Long, hectic and a TRUE test of my patience.

2. Have you ever gone through an entire bottle of nail polish and bought a second of the same color? Yes. Revlon Red.

3. What’s on your nails? Right now, just Orly Calcium Shield...and prayers that my nail will grow.

4. What are you reading right now? The Time Traveler's Wife.

5. Do you do pedicures in the winter? yes, yes and more yes. I just like for my toes to be pretty...even if I am the only one looking at them in my flip flops in the house.

6. Where do you paint your nails? Either while sitting on my couch or at my cute little table. This is new to me since in my pre-teen and teen years I was told I could only paint my nails and toes in the bathroom. I have finally got to....my house, my rules. LOL

7. What’s the last thing you bought? YELLOW KITTY NAIL POLISH. okay...I'm going back in my corner and I will stop screaming.

8. Do you love it when we “spring forward” and it’s light out until 8:00-9:00 pm? Yes, I don't mind in ways the spring forward, but my internal clock is ALWAYS jacked up no matter what. I don't sleep well...so it really doesn't matter.

That is the only way I can describe today's manicure and nail drama. Last night I finally broke out Dorothy Who? from the Wizard of Ooh Ahz Collection. Lemme just say, I actually love the color, but I obviously did something wrong. When I woke up my right hand looked like this....

Harumph! That's all I can say. Then then the day got worst...well nail wise....LOL...the nail on my middle finger broke in a half jagged crazy look. Argh! ARGH!! So I think i will be polish free until something good happens. Pish-posh!

On to good news...well, during the icky snow last week, I ran by Ricky's Beauty Supply here in New York City...and they were selling Barielle nail polish for $1.99. I picked up 3...Joytini, Suntini...and something else that I can't find. LOL This is Joytini with 2 coats of Orly Prism Gloss Gold...and Seche Vite. I love it...but it happened that I didn't go out of the house, but my nails looked snazzy...while I sat in the house and watched the dreadful day this past Monday.

Oh and one last piece of good news...I had been lemming...more like having a SUPER LUUUUUUUUUST for Yellow Kitty..which is a part of the Sally Hansen Complete Manicure line. When I saw it on Elaine of Lacquer Laine...I about died. LOL I couldn't find it ANYWHERE and lemme tell you, I was hunting like crazy!

Well...lo and behold, I went to Target tonight (a place that I have been avoiding like the plague.) I strolled by the nail polish section and there it was...in all its pretty yellow glory...YELLOW KITTY! Wootie Woo!!! Needless to say, I almost skipped down the aisle. LOL I am looking forward to my nail growing back so I can use it!

Happy President's Day!! I know some people are off today and others are not. I am off from my teaching gig..which by the way I am super duper loving. I was sitting on the couch uploading some files for a vocal competition and decided to paint my nails to kill time.

Next to me here on my couch are 4 boxes of untried Zoya polishes. Seriously. When I did my first Zoya haul, I bought 4 reds...I don't know why, but the names were catchy. I got Kamilah, Tosca, Delilah and America. Plus, 2 of the names are opera characters...so you know I couldn't leave them. LOL

Anywhoooo...back to Ms. America. She is a great blood red and it was matching my t-shirt...(the one I'm still sitting in...still not having gone to the gym. ack.) I think it is a fabulous rich creamy red. It reminds me of tomatoes that were grown in my grampa's backyard. So bright and yummy and full of flavor.

I'm also testing out the whole paintbrush to clean up technique. I haven't mastered it, but I am VERY impressed with my first run. I found a set at Michael's by Craft Smart. I liked the square stiff tip. Now I just have to master it and get a cleaner cleanup. lol

It's not easy being Green

Grass slippers. Whew....love it. I wore it on the 1st Sunday this month and it was a hit at church and with the supermarket cashier. LOL Some of the girls in the youth choir asked me what was it and where did I buy it.

I must say, it wasn't my plan to wear it to church. I got in late the night before and the weather was crappy...I had to be at church at 8:30....and it was just one of those days. By the way, the color made me feel happy, so what could a chickie do?

No matter how much I love the color, I still haven't mastered the whole brush thingy. It is driving me batty, but I will suffer through to wear this color again. LOL

Sloane you're sexy

Last week on Twitter I saw a posting from Zoya saying that they were having a free shipping day. *sigh* Me being me, I had absolutely NO control and bought 7 new polishes...Nina (chocolate brown), Zanna (a creamy mauve), Hope (sexy pinkish purple), Gwin (from the new collection), Isla (burgundy frost), Max (pinky red) and Sloane (dark vampy plum).

Today I have on Sloane...OH.MAH.GAWSH!!!! Wow...so hot, so sexy. It reminds me of a flashier Essie Wicked...and I love Wicked. Wicked was the first vampy color that I got into. I remember a friend at church had it on and it looked so amazing that I had to try it. I bought and was instantly in love...just as I am right now.

All I can do is oo and ahh...wow....OH.MAH.GAWSH. That's all I can say. I swear Zoya keeps me swooning....constantly!!

Okay...so as of today I am on a no polish purchase diet. I am OUT OF CONTROL. I can't even tell you how many polishes I have bought in the last 2 months. It is just STRAIGHT ABSURD!

Also, today I made my first evah trip to Ulta. Never again my friends, NEVAH again. (yeah, yeah, whatevah!!) I don't even know how many I got in today's haul. I don't want to know. I'm serious!! LOL

I guess the cashier has never seen anyone do that before because he snarked and said..."Are you opening a nail salon?" And since I can be very defensive and snarky about my habit...I looked at him without blinking an eye very dead pan. He didn't say another word and continued to ring me up. *sigh*

I did pick up OPI's Mad As a Hatter that I have been lusting for. LOL Then...there are the other bottles of junk I got. LOL

So...off to what I have been wearing randomly. PLEASE excuse the non cleaning in some of the pics. I am working on cleanup practices, but the paint brush and I haven't become good friends yet.

Today's look...China Glaze's Good Witch. Yes...I'm just busting this out. LOL I love the pink glitter in the pale frosty pink. It went on easily and it is very subtle and feminine.

Sally Hansen's InstaDry Lightening. Hmmm...I didn't really care for it. I would prefer not to give it the finger, because I LOVE the color so much. I found it streaky and that dangblasted brush...I HATE IT. The brush really wore me out. Even with my gripes, my students said my nails looked hot. I love those crazy kids!

China Glaze's Shower Today... Wow. I am sorry that the picture without flash. This color is AMAZING. I went to a friend's inauguration for city council this past Saturday and people stopped me to find out the color and where did I buy it. It is a kinda tealish blue. OMG...it is sexy. LOL

Color Club's Wild at Heart...I love purple and this was my first holographic color. I love it!!! There is really nothing more to say!

And finally...this is Victoria Secret's Velvetini. You can see nail wear and this was just overnight. I swear...me and my ability NOT to keep nail polish on.

*waving* Hi all! I haven't been blogging much because I had to do a cut down on my nails. *sigh* No matter what I do my index nail breaks low down on the side. UGH! While my nail is doing a little bit of recouping, I decided to wear them au natural. Humph.

1. How has your week been going? Pretty good. I've been to the gym every day and my singing is going well.

2. Do you color your hair? No, but I need to. My hair is getting greyer by the DAY!! When I take my braids out my grey will be one with Miss Clairol, Henna...SOOOOOOOOOOOMETHING!! LOL Thank God the Lovah doesn't mind. *whew*

3. What’s on your nails? Au natural, but I'm looking at a huge ziploc bag of polishes that need to be swatched.

4. What are your favorite TV shows? To be an artist in a very time consuming and difficult profession...I'm a tv ADDICT. I watch so much tv that I had to get DVR. It is really bad...between my soaps and all of my hour dramas that I love. It is insane. I will say the most important ones....All My Children, Young and the Restless, The Real World, Grey's Anatomy, Mercy, Private Practice, Gossip Girls, Ugly Betty...and the list can go on. LOL

5. Are there other cosmetics that you love as much as nail polish? Eyeshadow and falsies. I love them both equally. Anything that makes my eyes stand out is a hit in my book. My favorite brands are MAC, NYX, Glamour Doll, and L'oreal HIP.

6. Are you a fan of Nutella? I hate hazelnuts, so no.

7. What’s your favorite base and top coat? I haven't found a favorite yet. I think one of my favorites is OPI's base...and Seche Vite for my top coat.

8. Do you love boots? How many pairs do you own? I love boots, but I have HUGE calf muscles. So...I'm stuck with ankle boots. Blah. I own about 7 pairs.

9. Would you rather spend a 2 week (all paid) vacation lounging on a beach in Fiji, touring the city streets of Japan, or rugged hiking in Australia? Beach in Fiji. I love the beach and a 2 week vacation....all paid. Pish-posh...off I would go.

10. What is your favorite physical thing about yourself? It is a cross between my eyes and my cleavage. My guy friends say both are equally dangerous and i always seem to use them for my "good". LOL Mr. Lovah says that my boys are on to something. LOL

Yesterday, I took my car in for an overdue oil change in my favorite borough...the borough of Kings...Brooklyn. When I was done, I tried to convince myself that I didn't need to go...but to no avail, I fell through the trap. The next thing I knew I was in Sally's. LOL I guess it didn't help that I had a $5 coupon and a 15% off coupon. LOL

I tried to keep it down to a minimum...*sigh* I'm NOT even going to address what I bought. LOL Well, one of them.

I got Finger Paints It's an Original. It is a sexy bluish purple shimmer, as you can see from the pictures with and without flash. (Excuse my horrific post cleaning job.) It took 2 coats and it was fully opaque and I luuuuuuuurve it. LOL

Sugar Coat Me

I love the color pink. It just makes my day dandy. Really....happy and dandy. LOL

I'm testing some pale pinks that I have had for a while. I am in an opera that is a period piece, late 1700's/early 1800's and I need a neutral polish. (Actually they would prefer I wouldn't wear polish...but hunh?? LOL) Neutral...blah. Pish-posh. LOL Anyway...here was today's test.

My base is Diamond Cosmetics Sugar Coat Me, which was their Breast Cancer Awareness Month color. (I am a full sucker for anything that supports Breast Cancer because my aunt died from breast cancer. If it is pink and supports Breast Cancer...I'm there.) I like this light pink color. It is a cream, a little uneven to put on though. By the 3rd coat, everything was together. I put one coat of Sweet Reverie on top....then my usual 2 coats of Seche Vite and all was good!!

Avon's Golden Twilight

I was in my local Avon store skimming through the last campaign of the year and my eye caught a few nail polishes that were swatched on several blogs. Plus, they were 3 for $7.99...so HOW could I pass that up???????

Golden twilight was a part of my order. LOL I have always loved frosted nail polishes and it is soooooo my mother's fault. My mother loves red fingernail polish, but it just isn't perfect for her unless it has a frost to it. I think I mentioned this before...but she is even in love with China Glaze's Ruby Pumps. She LOVES it.

Antywho...last night as I was watching the Jets kick Cincy bootay....I did a quick color change. I love the color. It has like a nice cream thing going on with gold, green and red glitter. Yummo. I will say, I am not a fan of these new brushes. I guess I'm just old school. Give me a round nail polish brush. LOL

The only thing I am sad about is the fact that I couldn't find my chip skip. *le sigh* I had to hide a butt load of polish hauls because my mom was coming over last week and now I can't figure out where I put it. LOLOLOL Oh well. You can see the chip on my index finger...but I will definitely be using this again when I need a dark color fix.

Orange you happy on a Monday?

Happy Monday! I can't believe that the New Year is totally under way. I just love it. So many things are happening at break neck speed for me and I am just...Happy! Whew.

So, Last Friday I was extremely excited because I felt it was a good time to bust out some orange nail polish. I am in love with orange nail polish, as much as I am in love with pink, green, purple, wine and glitter nail polish. LOL Ummm that is most of the color spectrum. LOL

Antywho...so I pulled out Sephora by Opi's Note to Self...that I have had since about....October or something. *whew* I love the way it looks. I did my normal 3 coats, but it is still rather sheer, but very frosty. I decided to top it off with China Glaze's Mango Madness.

The combination (as you can see in the pics) was a brilliant idea....yet the index finger on my right hand didn't seem to like it. Seriously. It was a STRAIGHT HORROR. I tried my normal Seche Vite as top coat....my nail didn't like that. I used Zoya's top coat and that was a bigger mess. I ended up just giving up. I did 3 coats of Mango Madness and the only person who was probably bothered was me. LOL This will definitely make me invest in a new top coat to try again.

I hope that you all had a great New Year's Eve and are having a wonderful New Year's Day. My hot pink nails last night were a splash. I loved them.

This morning, I decided I wanted a color change for the New Year day. I wore Orly's Enchanted Forest. I bought this at Sally's a couple of weeks ago during a holiday haul. *sigh* It came in one of those gift box thingies with Prism Top Coat. I thought about using it for one of my Messiah performances...but blah. LOL I chose to use Orly's Tiara that I got in another 2 gift box set.

Well, let me explain why I chose this color today...Lacquer Laine did a post yesterday of her favorite 2009 polishes. (it is FULL of swatches...and go enjoy.) Enchanted Forest was on the list and actually sitting next to me on my little table....so I used it.

I have on 3 coats of the polish. I didn't need 3 coats, but I am starting to feel like it isn't right unless I have 3 coats. LOL The color for me was opaque at 2 coats and very easy to apply. I like it because it is just creeeeeeeamy. Here's another one in daylight with one of my favorite gaudy rings.

Alllllllso....I ran by CVS a couple of times this week and they had a buy one get on 50% off on Sally Hansen Nail polish. So, I started picking up the new Complete Salon Manicure. I was not expecting most of the polishes to be gone once I hit the store. Oyi Vey!! There are a few that I have seen swatched on other sites that I am desperately looking for. Since I am obsessive, I will be on the hunt....determined! *waving a fist*

I picked up Pedal to the Metal (a frosty lavender shimmer), Nude Now (frosty beige), I Pink I Can (a light pink), Calypso Blue (a frosty blue with a turquoise undertone), Choco-Latte(a creme beige) and Black Platinum (a frosty black...almost charcoal/grey). I also picked up a couple of Insta-Dry....Snappy Sorbet (a peachy kinda coral frost) and Sonic Bloom (a creamy not fuchsia, but fuchsia pink.) I am looking to swatching these soon!

Happy New Year to you all! (Well, that just depends who the all is...I may just be the only person reading my own blog. LOL) Antywho, I am wishing all out there in blog world a blessed New Year and I wish all that you desire that the Lord/Universe/or whatever you believe in grants it for you. 2010 is going to be the year of wonderful things!

Right now I am prepping for my evening, by listening to the live broadcast of Carmen that is on live from the Met. How exciting!! The singing is amazing and it is energizing me. Since I am listening to it, one would think that I would think that I would polish my nails red. Not so my friend...they are hot pink. LOL So typical of me. I used Color Club's Lazer Pink and used a Nailene thing-a-ma-bob for my ring finger. Love, love.

As a teen I was always hesitant of florescent colors because I never had the amount of coats correctly. But tonight I was determined. *go me* I used Getcha Nails Did technique of 3 coats and this is the FIRST time I have ever been very pleased. See for yaself. LOL

1. How has your week been treating you so far? Crazy, but great. I've had a couple of great run-throughs for this opera that I'm in and the director says I am doing a fabulous job. That made my week. Also, I did my costume fitting last night and they took in my dress so much they were gagging. Talk about Merry Christmas to me! I still am firm...I hate the gym. LOL

2. If you celebrate Christmas and exchanged gifts, what was your favorite gift that you received? I didn't receive any gifts...really. I was so busy trying to figure out my blogger layout, that I almost forgot my pictures of yesterday's manicure. LOL

In late October or maybe early November, I took my first trip to Dashing Diva. I think I picked up about 5 polishes...and they were all

in the greyish family.

The pictures posted are of Milk Mauve and then on one finger of each hand, Color Club Magic Attraction. The Dashing Diva went on very smoothly and was nice and opaque in 2 coats. I don't have much to say about the Color Club...except it is my favorite of my glitters. It reminds me of Christmas wrapping paper. Just fun and sparkly.

Passion

Last night after getting my hair braided, I ran by Duane Reade...and as usual it was a B.A.D. move. LOL

I have never been very discriminating when it comes to makeup/nail polish/etc. My collections go from extremely expensive to extremely cheap. That's just who I am. You can still be fabulous and use something that costs $ .99. LOL

Antywho...I was in Duane Reade looking for the new Sally Hansen nail polishes (off to CVS in a few to snag a couple.) and there was none. *sigh* So, as I strolled out with my obsessive uncontrolled self, I walked up and down the aisles and passed by Black Radiance's display. I have always loved their lip glosses. (They are HIGHLY pigmented and last a long time.) They had these cute bottles that sort of remind me of the Finger Paints line and that drew my attention.

The color I am wearing, Passion, is what caught my eye. I actually thought it was purplish black it is so dark under florescent light. I also picked up another color, which at the moment I can't find. LOL

The polish went on very smoothly and after 2 coats was VERY opaque. I think the brush inside is a little difficult to maneuver, but needless to say I got a hang of that as well.

I can't wait to try the other color...

Tingly...Tree Oil

I don't know if I have posted this before, but I am a natural head. I have no chemicals in my hair. I used to relax my hair for years, then I took a break for 2 years, then I started relaxing again...and then one day I woke up and said...enough. Last July I decided that I would stop putting a relaxer in my hair and I have been transitioning ever since.

Natural hair is a big ole love for me....which has caused me to be a hair product junkie. I did say that I have a habit....

Today's product review is Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner. I heard about it on Curly Nikki. I have been using this product in a no-poo wash and then leave a smidgen in as a leave in conditioner. My hair just soooooooaks it up and loves it. It also makes blow drying my hair a breeze.

I will say that it isn't a heavy conditioner and spreads very smoothly through out my funny 3c/4a/4b hair. The thing I love the most is that it isn't full of sulfates. Trader Joe's is an organic shampoo and conditioner. Sulfates are a horror for kinky curly girls. They strip your hair like none other and makes my hair feel like a bad case of steel wool. *whew*

If you are looking for a new trick...try it. You will definitely love the results.

Mint Candy Apple

I can't remember when I first saw this color on a blog, but I knew I had to have it.

I was on the hunt looking for a needle in a haystack. It was absolutely sad and ridiculous, but...I found it. So happy was I. LOL

My only concern was, I was never a big fan of milky like nail polishes. They just never worked, but I was very determined to make this one work. (You'll note that I am stubborn as all get out.) I paired it up with a teal nail polish by Soo. I found it at my local beauty supply store.

Pinkie, Pink

This looks like the color I wore through most of high school, but it isn't...very close though. This color is more purplish than pink, but I still stick it in the pink pile.

This is Lillith by Zoya. It was actually a part of the first haul I ever got from Zoya. I love it. It took me 3 coats to get the color I wanted to see. I also used the Zoya Complete Color Lock System. I liked the system, but I don't care for the quick dry drops....that's just me. I rather use Seche Vite. *shrug*

For the base I used one coat of China Glaze Meringue and the dots are China Glaze Tree Hugger and China Glaze Salsa. (And the ring...oh so gaudy and so loved...from Ashley Stewart.)

Wow...how time has flown. I didn't realize that I hadn't posted in a few days. Things have been ABSOLUTELY insane. LOL I adore being a singer and I am grateful for this art form, but sometimes my schedule can be straight...off the charts.

I also realized that even though my nails have been painted, I have slacked totally on my polish photos. Boo...boo. LOL This past Sunday for a Messiah where I was the soloist, I wore my Ruby Pumps from the China Glaze Wizrd of Ooh Ahz Set. LURVE it. Even my mom commented about how pretty the polish was...and that she wanted to borrow it. (My mom loves my insane colors, but is totally a red girl...period.the.end.)

On Sunday night I changed to OPI Holiday Glow. I'm not a brown polish person...but I think it is schnazy with the gold sparkle. Fancy, fancy. I sang at a holiday party this past Monday and someone said that she loved it. Hey now.... (By the by...I do have pictures of it...after 3 days wearing it.)

This is a quickie post because I need to be ready in 35 minutes to pick up my mom from her Apple Store appointment. LOL

I have NEVER been a fan of silver nail polish...at.all, but I have always loved seeing it on other women's hands. So...why did I cave and purchase this one? It is my nickname. LOL I mean how can you pass on a nail polish that is your nickname? LOL

My friend asked me yesterday...what color is that? I said Trixie. She said...no Trix...seriously. I said...Seriously and popped the bottle out of my purse. She fell out laughing. It made my Sunday. (Oh yea, I forgot to add that I have Luna on my pinkie. What a sexy glitter.)

Might I also add...I had a performance yesterday and one of the kids there said my fingernails looked like I had painted mirrors on them. Then it reminded me of the Minx manicures. I don't have Minx money, LOL, so I am grateful I can have a $7 alternative.

Soft Lips

I suffer from severe allergies...thanks to the genes that I carry. One of them is an allergy to pork. Yes...the new white meat. I am very conscious about what I eat, but sometimes you can go to a restaurant and use ingredients without your knowledge. If and when it enters my system my lips do the ODDEST type of chaffing over you can imagine. I mean it is like paper that won't stop flaking. It is gross and painful...and straight annoying.

For a long while I used vaseline and a toothbrush, but that took weeks to help heal. *sigh* Then I read on Jacqueline's blog that she used Avon's ClearlyC. It worked like a CHARM. It cut down on the healing time of my lips to like 2 or 3 days. Once I found the trick...Avon discontinued the product. *oh woe is me* (By the way, if someone from Avon is reading this...PLEASE could you start remaking ClearlyC??? My skin misses it something terrible. It is the best thing for my acne scars!)

Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, I was watching my soap and saw this commercial for Neosporin's new lip therapy line. It took me a couple of days before I bumped into it in a local Target. *singing* JACKPOT!!!

I absolutely love the smooth texture of the balm. It is like a nice juicy vaseline being put on my lips. LOL I know...that doesn't sound good.

I used the daily lipcare for 2 days and my lips were back to normal. Thanks so much Neosporin...now I can wear my MAC CB-96 lipstick and other frost lipsticks without issue!!!

Yesterday after getting home from the gym, I sat around and learned new music....and waited. Waited...and waited.....and waited....and waited some more. On what? On mah haul. *shhhh* LOL

At 4:45PM it finally got here...with a few things on back order.

Alright....so...Ms. Colbie.

Here she is in daylight. I like her. She is a brownish red with almost a blackish undertone. Crazy hunh? When I applied the first coat, i was NOT impressed at all. After the 2nd coat, I was totally in love.

I like the way it looks despite my jacked up cuticles. (Oh...if i would JUST wear gloves when washing dishes. pish-posh.) I can't wait to see what it looks like on my toes. This is a definite keeper!!

So for the past week, I have been praying over my nails. LOL I have this thing where my thumb crack WAY below the tip of the nail. It did it ONCE again...and now this time it painful. *sigh* So...I've waited, used Sally Hansen's Complete Care 4-in-1 treatment...and now I can tolerate my jacked up thumb nail polished. LOL

A few weeks ago, I placed my order for my first Diamond Cosmetics polish. Love, Love. I am wearing Orange You Sexy and my funky nail is Sephora's OPI Worth My Weight. Funky combo that I really like.

By the way...is anyone keeping up with Private Practice...talk about straight shocker tonight. Whew.

Well...here is my first official post on my new blog. I have been blogging for years, but things took a down turn. I got bored...then I started finding bloggers who have habits...like me. They are makeup artists, nail polish junkies, shoe whores...you get my drift. LOL So I have decided to deal with my own habits...which are all the above.

So, last I placed my GreenFriday nail polish order with Zoya. Talk about SO excited!!! Needless to say, I have been looking at my blackberry and email like a little crack addict waiting for my shipping information. No word. Well...the analness in me had to find out SOMETHING! I just spoke with a representative from Zoya... *drum roll* They had 4,500 orders placed on GreenFriday. Seriously. The person I spoke with said give the order about 2 weeks. So...I wait. LOL

Oh well...I look forward to being back in the ranks of blogging.
